A 150 year tradition
For over one hundred and fifty years, the D’Ambra family has cultivated a deep passion for viticulture and the production of quality wines, combining innovation, creativity and a strong link with their roots. Since the end of the 19th century, with Francesco D’Ambra – known as Don Ciccio – Ischia wine production has become a vocation, bringing the island’s wines from Naples to national and international markets. A story rooted in the island’s farming culture and renewed from generation to generation.
The development of the company and the valorisation of the territory
In 1952, the company entered a new phase thanks to Don Ciccio’s sons Mario, Michele and Salvatore, who founded D’Ambra Vini d’Ischia S.p.A.. Modern technologies for vinification and bottling were introduced, vineyards were acquired in the most suitable areas and a new winemaking plant was built in Panza, the nerve centre of Ischian viticulture. Autochthonous varieties such as Biancolella, Forastera and Per’ ’e palummo become the symbol of a project that enhances the territory and its excellence.
The evolution of a family: strong roots, looking to the future
With the arrival of the 2000s, the tradition was renewed with the entry of Andrea D’Ambra, oenologist and representative of the third generation, joined today by his daughters Marina and Sara, also an oenologist, who embody the fourth generation of the family. At Tenuta Calitto, wine is an authentic expression of family, territory and passion, where respect for tradition merges with a modern and sustainable vision of viticulture. Each bottle tells a centuries-old story that continues to excite.
