Where the soul of the
Tenuta Calitto – Wine Resort & Spa

In the green heart of the island of Ischia, along the provincial road Forio – Panza, lies the historic Tenuta Calitto, a place steeped in charm and tradition, dominated by the imposing view of Mount Epomeo. At the centre of the estate stands the famous Palazzo Piromallo, recognisable by its deep Pompeian red, a symbol of elegance and historical memory.
Built between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century, the palace stands on an ancient 17th-century hunting lodge, once belonging to the del Vasto family, linked to the hunting reserves of the Aragonese kings. After a series of changes of ownership, it was the Pezzillo family, one of the most influential in Forio, that transformed these lands into a landmark for local viticulture.
With the marriage of Luisa Pezzillo Rodero and the Neapolitan Count Giacomo Piromallo, the estate experienced a new splendour: the palace was enlarged and her son, Giuseppe Piromallo Capece Piscicelli, founded a modern wine-making establishment there. Over time, the structure underwent changes, including partial reconstruction after the 1883 earthquake, the addition of a wooden chalet and the construction of a private chapel.
